Happy 20 months Jackson!

Is my sweet boy really 20 months old already? WOW!! I can't believe we will be celebrating his second birthday in 4 months. It brings tears to my eyes to think about. My sweet boy is growing up so fast. He makes me so proud everyday. I love that boy with all my heart!!! How will I be able to love another child as much as I love sweet Jackson? He has truly been my heart, my joy, and my love for the past 20 months. I am so excited about seeing and meeting my daughter for the first time , but it breaks my heart to know that I am going to have to split my attention and share it with someone other than my precious son. I am sadden to think that Jackson is going to have to share his Mommy. I know that we will all love and adore precious Savannah, but still saddens me for Jackson. He is going to be such a great big brother!! Jackson is such a smart boy! He is starting to put three words together now. His favorite game is peek a boo or "where's Jackson". He will eat just about anything to include vegetables. Hopefully, this will continue. As I end this post, I want to leave you with a poem that has come up with so many of my friends having a second child, so I know I am not alone to feel the way I do. We all go through it. If you have not read this poem before and you are a Mommy, you may need a tissue.

Loving Two
I walk along holding your (almost) 2-year-old hand, basking in the glow of our magical relationship.Suddenly I feel a kick from within, as if to remind me that our time alone is limited. And I wonder: how could I ever love another child as I love you? Then he is born, and I watch you.I watch the pain you feel at having to share me as you’ve never shared me before.I hear you telling me in your own way, “Please love only me”.And I hear myself telling you in mine, “I can’t”, knowing, in fact, that I never can again. You cry. I cry with you.I almost see our new baby as an intruder on the precious relationship we once shared.A relationship we can never quite have again. But then, barely noticing, I find myself attached to that new being, and feeling almost guilty.I’m afraid to let you see me enjoying him—as though I am betraying you.But then I notice your resentment change, first to curiosity, then to protectiveness, finally to genuine affection.More days pass, and we are settling into a new routine. The memory of days with just the two of us is fading fast. But something else is replacing those wonderful times we shared, just we two. There are new times – only now, we are three.I watch the love between you grow, the way you look at each other, touch each other.I watch how he adores you — as I have for so long. I see how excited you are by each of his new accomplishments. And I begin to realize that I haven’t taken something from you, I’ve given something to you.I notice that I am no longer afraid to share my love openly with both of you.I find that my love for each of you is as different as you are, but equally strong. And my question is finally answered, to my amazement.Yes, I can love another child as much as I love you—only differently. And although I realize that you may have to share my time, I now know you’ll never share my love. There’s enough of that for both of you – you each have your own supply.I love you—-both.And I thank you both for blessing my life.

Girl, I know so well what you mean about not knowing how you will split your love. That was a huge struggle with me during my entire pregnancy and labor with Coulter because like you Lindsay was my life. Well let me just tell you how amazing it is that the love just comes. I now couldn't imagine not sharing the love. Just to let you know the hardest thing was jealousy and feeling like you are giving Jackson the attention he needs. I will be praying for you with that. Things will be great.

AWWW...That is so sweet!!!! I remember when I found out I was pregnant with Ethan.....I was so happy, yet a little sad for my one on one time with Emma Kate being over. That poem is EXACTLY how I felt, but just couldn't put into words! Thanks for sharing!
